Rane Arroyo is
a Puerto Rican writer who was born in Chicago. He is the author of five
books of poems, the latest being The Portable Famine
(BkMk Press) which is due in December 2005. It won the
2004-2005 John Ciardi Poetry Prize. His first
book of gay short stories, How To Name
A Hurricane, which includes many tales dealing with working-class issues,
will be out from the University of Arizona Press (www.uapress.arizona.edu)
on October 1, 2005. He came out two decades ago and has never
regretted it. He has worked as an international banker, arts administrator,
temp, factory worker, and even once as a dancing ape at a Mormon disco.
His newest project is The Lost Poems:
