Timothy J. Anderson is a writer,
horseman, and truck driver with sixteen years of over-the-road trucking
experience throughout North America. He is a graduate of Lutheran Bible
Institute of Seattle (now Trinity College) and Seattle Pacific University. He
is co-author of the study, “Chicken Haulers and the High Liners: CB
Talk Among Interstate Truckers,” published in Communicating Ethnic
and Cultural Identity (Rowman &
Littlefield, 2004). He is president of the Gay Truckers’ Association
and has served as a consultant on the NIH/Emory
University Community and Truckers’ Health Project. Anderson’s writing
has appeared in Guide, Frontiers, Second Essence, and
the anthology Bend, Don’t Shatter: Poets on the Beginning of Desire
(Soft Skull Press, 2004). His website (www.highmountainranch.com) was chosen as
Website of the Month by www.roadstaronline.com and won Cross Trucking’s award for excellence. An excerpt from
his essay “Bodacious” was nominated for a “PREN-D” (Public Radio News Director’s Award),
and his piece “Drive Through This” was commissioned for inclusion
in the award-winning 2003 season of Public Radio International’s Outright
Radio. He resides in Pend Oreille County,
Washington.
